What Little Rock makes and ships

Little Rock at a glance

Little Rock is where I-30 ends at I-40 just north of the Arkansas River, and where I-57 now starts its run northeast. On the east side, the Port of Little Rock pairs a slackwater harbor with its own railroad, close to Clinton National Airport.

Central Arkansas runs on health care, banking, transportation and retail, backed by a solid factory base. A coffee company headquartered in Little Rock bought a 524,000-square-foot plant in Conway, where a school and office furniture maker also runs production and warehouse sites well past a million square feet. On the east side, the Port of Little Rock operates Foreign-Trade Zone 14 and an industrial park with open sites at Slackwater Harbor, Thibault Road and Frazier Pike. In 2018 the port unloaded cargo from 16 countries.

Pallet demand follows those plants and the river. Packaged coffee leaves for grocers and food-service buyers who inspect every load. Desks, chairs and tables come off the Conway lines bulky and awkward. Port tenants shift goods among barge, rail and truck, and the port railroad's heavy-equipment ramp loads road graders and military vehicles onto rail cars. Anything bound overseas, by barge to the Gulf or by container through Memphis, needs ISPM 15 stamped wood.

How freight moves

I-40 runs through North Little Rock between Memphis and Fort Smith, and I-30 comes up from Texarkana to end at I-40 north of the river. Since November 2024, US 67 from North Little Rock to Walnut Ridge has carried the I-57 designation. I-430 and I-440 ring the west and east sides, with I-440 serving the port and Clinton National Airport, and I-530 heads to Pine Bluff. The McClellan–Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, 18 locks long, gives the port barge access to the Mississippi. For ocean containers, Memphis, 133 miles east on I-40, is the closest major rail-ramp city.

Which pallet to order

The right pallet grade for Little Rock.

Port industrial park tenants moving freight between barge, rail and truck usually get the best value from recycled Grade B 48x40s, stepping up to block pallets for machinery or steel. Coffee and other packaged-food shippers in Little Rock and Conway should order Grade A or AAA. Furniture plants often need custom sizes or oversize decks for bulky pieces. Anything bound overseas, by barge to the Gulf or by container through Memphis, needs heat-treated (HT) pallets stamped under ISPM 15. Your account manager confirms the grade spec in writing.

Buying pallets in Little Rock: questions

Can you deliver to plants and warehouses in the Port of Little Rock industrial park?+
Yes. We deliver full truckloads to buildings across the port's industrial park and along the I-440 corridor near Clinton National Airport. Tell us whether the freight moves on by barge, rail or truck, and your account manager spells out grade, quantity and delivery details on the quote.
Do loads shipping down the Arkansas River by barge need heat-treated pallets?+
Only when the cargo is leaving the country. ISPM 15 covers wood packaging in international trade, not domestic barge moves, but export freight bound for a Gulf port needs it. Tell us the final destination, and your account manager sources HT pallets from accredited facilities and confirms the stamp.
What pallet works for furniture plants in Conway?+
Furniture ships bulky and fairly light, so footprint matters more than weight rating. Many shippers order oversize or custom-size pallets sized to the carton or stack. Send the dimensions and how the units are loaded, and your account manager puts the build or grade on the quote.
Do you deliver up I-57 to Cabot and Searcy?+
Yes. Warehouses and plants along the I-57 corridor, from Sherwood and Jacksonville up through Cabot and Searcy, get the same truckload delivery as Little Rock addresses. Pallets come from an independent yard within reach of your dock, and your account manager confirms the details.
Can you supply coffee and packaged-food plants in central Arkansas?+
Yes. Packaged-food plants shipping to grocery and food-service DCs usually order Grade A or AAA 48x40s with intact boards and no protruding nails. Send your buyers' pallet rules with the order, and your account manager matches them and spells out the grade on the quote.
Where can I buy pallets in Little Rock, AR?+
From us, by the full truckload: 616 recycled 48x40s per truck, or 520 block pallets. Call (470) 206-3352 or book a test load.
What do pallets cost delivered to Little Rock, AR?+
Full-truckload prices run from $4.75 a pallet for Grade B to $10.50 for AAA, freight included. Heat-treated adds $1.00–$1.50 per pallet.
When will a load reach Little Rock, AR?+
Your delivery date is on the quote, in writing, before you send a PO. Standard 48x40s often arrive in 0–2 business days. New and custom builds take longer.
