What Cincinnati makes and ships

Cincinnati at a glance

I-71 and I-75 share the Brent Spence Bridge over the Ohio River, and a companion span broke ground beside it in May 2026. Across the river in Hebron, Ky., CVG hosts two major air-cargo hubs.

Greater Cincinnati mixes food, freight and factories across three states. Regional developers point to a deep food and flavoring cluster, with flavor houses, frozen-dessert makers and food processors from Sharonville to Fairfield. Across the river in Boone County, Ky., fulfillment centers and 3PL warehouses crowd around the airport in Hebron, Florence and Walton. North of the city, I-75 through Butler County is lined with manufacturers and distribution buildings in West Chester, Fairfield and the Monroe–Middletown area.

Each of those pulls a different pallet. Flavor and food plants want sound, uniform stock that passes their own inspections. Airport-area fulfillment docks go through standard 48x40s fast and need regular replenishment. Butler County manufacturers want the same custom build every time so product stacks, wraps and rides without shifting. And because international air freight moves through CVG, wood pallets on overseas shipments have to be heat-treated and stamped under ISPM 15.

How freight moves

I-71 and I-75 run together across the Brent Spence Bridge, a known truck bottleneck, then split north of downtown; a companion bridge now under construction is expected to carry through traffic in the next decade. I-275 rings the metro through Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Rail containers move through the Gest Street ramp beside the Queensgate yard and the Sharonville ramp up I-75. CVG's cargo hubs in Hebron handle overnight and international freight, and barges still work the Ohio River.

Which pallet to order

The right pallet grade for Cincinnati.

Food and flavor plants should order Grade A, AAA or new 48x40s and send any customer pallet spec with the order. Fulfillment and 3PL docks in Boone County run well on Grade B or Grade A recycled stock. Butler County manufacturers usually need block pallets or custom sizes built to a print. Anything flying out of CVG to another country, or heading to an East Coast port in a container, needs heat-treated (HT) pallets with the ISPM 15 mark. Your account manager confirms the grade spec in writing.

Buying pallets in Cincinnati: questions

Will Brent Spence Bridge traffic affect my delivery appointment?+
It can. Trucks coming up from Kentucky cross the Ohio on the bridge, and backups there are common. Your account manager plans around it and confirms the appointment. Tell us your gate hours and late-arrival rules so the carrier knows them before the truck rolls.
Do pallets on international air freight through CVG need heat treatment?+
Yes, for most destinations. ISPM 15 covers solid-wood packaging in international trade, by air as well as by sea, so pallets under overseas air freight should be heat-treated and stamped. We deliver HT pallets from ALSC-accredited facilities to warehouses near the airport in Hebron, Florence and Erlanger.
What pallet do flavor and food plants in Sharonville and Fairfield ask for?+
Usually Grade A or new 48x40s with solid decks, no protruding nails, no bark and no broken boards, kept dry before delivery. Many plants have their own written pallet standard. Send it with the order and your account manager puts the grade spec on the quote.
Do you deliver to fulfillment centers in Hebron and Florence, Kentucky?+
Yes. We deliver full truckloads to fulfillment and 3PL buildings across Boone County, including Hebron, Florence and Walton. Share your appointment system, door assignments and preferred grade, and those details go into the written order.
Where can I buy pallets in Cincinnati, OH?+
From us, by the full truckload: 616 recycled 48x40s per truck, or 520 block pallets. Call (470) 206-3352 or book a test load.
What do pallets cost delivered to Cincinnati, OH?+
Full-truckload prices run from $4.75 a pallet for Grade B to $10.50 for AAA, freight included. Heat-treated adds $1.00–$1.50 per pallet.
When will a load reach Cincinnati, OH?+
Your delivery date is on the quote, in writing, before you send a PO. Standard 48x40s often arrive in 0–2 business days. New and custom builds take longer.
