Sourcing

Chesapeake Pallets is a pallet broker based in Atlanta. We don't own a yard. For each load we buy from the closest vetted yard that has your grade in stock. One account manager handles your quote, paperwork and invoice.

What Missouri makes and ships

Missouri at a glance

Missouri has a freight city at each end of I-70. Kansas City sorts trains from four Class I lines and runs warehouses inside old limestone mines; St. Louis loads barges on the Mississippi. I-44 carries freight on to Springfield and Joplin.

Missouri's freight story starts with its two river cities. KC SmartPort bills Kansas City as the nation's largest rail hub by tonnage, and mined-out limestone under the metro now holds underground warehouses. St. Louis brews beer at its historic brewery, hosts a pet-food company's headquarters and works barge terminals on both banks of the Mississippi. Pet-food plants in St. Joseph and Bloomfield ship nationwide. Springfield is home base for a major refrigerated trucking carrier, the Bootheel grows rice and cotton, and only two states have more beef cows.

Pallet orders follow that map. Kansas City DCs and cave warehouses run standard 48x40s in large numbers, and food storage pushes buyers toward stronger grades. St. Louis beverage plants ship heavy case loads that need sturdy pallets with sound lead boards. Pet-food plants move dense bags and cans. Industrial parks at Earth City, Hazelwood and Fenton add steady demand for recycled stock on I-70 and I-44.

How freight moves

I-70 ties Kansas City to St. Louis across the middle of the state. I-44 runs from St. Louis to Springfield and Joplin, I-55 heads south through the Bootheel, and I-35 and I-29 leave Kansas City northbound. KC SmartPort counts four Class I railroads and four intermodal parks in the region, including the Edgerton park just over the Kansas line. The St. Louis Regional Freightway calls St. Louis the northernmost lock- and ice-free port on the Mississippi, with barge terminals on both banks. Lambert airport handles air cargo, and export containers move by rail to coastal ports.

Which pallet to order

The right pallet grade for Missouri.

Kansas City DCs mostly run Grade B recycled 48x40s, while underground storage and food plants usually step up to AAA or new pallets that stay sound in cool, humid space. St. Louis brewers and pet-food plants order Grade A or new under heavy case and bag loads. Industrial shops in north St. Louis County may need block pallets or custom sizes. Anything leaving the country in a container needs HT pallets stamped under ISPM 15. Grades aren't industry-standardized, so your account manager confirms yours in writing.

Cities and rules in Missouri

Buying pallets in Missouri: questions

Can you deliver to underground warehouses in Kansas City?+
Yes. We deliver full truckloads to warehouses across Kansas City, including underground cave facilities. These sites often have their own access routes and dock rules, so send the address and receiving instructions, and your account manager puts the grade and delivery details on the quote.
What pallets work for pet-food plants in St. Joseph and Bloomfield?+
Most order Grade A or new 48x40s with solid top decks, since cans, bags and litter jugs stack heavy and tall. Share your spec and how pallets are inspected at receiving, and your account manager writes up the grade before the load is built.
Do you deliver to breweries and beverage plants in St. Louis?+
Yes. We deliver to plants and DCs across St. Louis and St. Louis County, including Earth City and Hazelwood. Heavy case loads usually need Grade A or premium 48x40s with sound lead boards. Send your spec and it comes back to you confirmed.
Do you cover Springfield, Joplin and the I-44 corridor?+
Yes. We deliver full truckloads to plants and warehouses along I-44 from St. Louis through Rolla and Springfield to Joplin. Share the plant address, gate and appointment process and the grade you need, and your account manager spells out the details on the quote.
Do export containers leaving Missouri need heat-treated pallets?+
If the container is going to an overseas buyer, yes in most cases. Most destinations require wood packaging treated and marked under ISPM 15, and a missing mark can hold cargo at the destination port. Order HT pallets for export loads; domestic freight doesn't need them.
Where can I buy pallets in Missouri?+
From us, by the full truckload: 616 recycled 48x40s per truck, or 520 block pallets. Call (470) 206-3352 or book a test load.
What do pallets cost delivered to Missouri?+
Full-truckload prices run from $4.75 a pallet for Grade B to $10.50 for AAA, freight included. Heat-treated adds $1.00–$1.50 per pallet.
When will a load reach Missouri?+
Your delivery date is on the quote, in writing, before you send a PO. Standard 48x40s often arrive in 0–2 business days. New and custom builds take longer.
