616How we supply it
An Atlanta broker, a yard near your plant.
Chesapeake Pallets is a pallet broker based in Atlanta. We don't run a yard in West Virginia. For each load we buy from an independent yard close to your dock that has your grade in stock, and the delivered price includes the freight. One account manager handles the quote, the paperwork and the invoice.

West Virginia at a glance
What West Virginia makes and moves.
The state makes and moves heavy goods. Chemical plants line the Kanawha River valley near Charleston, drawn there by labor and barge access. Huntington still runs a nickel-alloy rolling mill, railcar repair shops and fabrication yards along the Ohio, and coal arriving by rail is loaded onto river barges there. In the mountain counties, forestry-based industries cut lumber and build cabinets. The Eastern Panhandle looks different: Berkeley County is now the state's second-most populous county, with logistics and manufacturing employers around Martinsburg.
Pallet demand here leans heavy. Drums, coils, plate and fabricated parts need stronger decks than grocery freight, so plants in the Kanawha and Ohio valleys often buy block pallets or custom sizes. The Panhandle buys more like the Washington–Baltimore distribution market next door, with standard recycled 48x40s moving through retail and parcel warehouses. Farm and processing docks in the Potomac Highlands sit in between, buying sound pallets for cold storage.
Who buys pallets here

Eastern Panhandle warehouses
Martinsburg sits on I-81 about 73 miles west of Baltimore, and the MARC Brunswick Line ends there. Logistics employers in Berkeley County are within reach of the Washington–Baltimore market, and I-81 runs north toward Hagerstown and Harrisburg. Their docks mostly turn standard recycled 48x40s, Grade A or B, and they want every trailer graded the same.

Kanawha Valley plant suppliers
Chemical makers dominate the river valley between Belle and Nitro, and the machine shops, packagers and fabricators around them ship drums, totes, bagged goods and parts by truck. Those loads are dense and heavy, so buyers here often specify block pallets or reinforced custom sizes instead of light stringers.
Manufacturing → - 03
Huntington metal and rail shops
Huntington's nickel-alloy mill, railcar repair shops and welding and fabrication yards sit beside the rail lines and the Port of Huntington Tri-State. Coil, plate and machined parts call for heavy-duty decks, often cut to the part's footprint, and your account manager confirms deckboard thickness before the first load.

Potomac Highlands farms
The South Branch valley around Moorefield in Hardy County raises poultry and cattle and grows apples and peaches. Corridor H links Moorefield east to Wardensville as a four-lane road. Processing and packing docks there need sound pallets that tolerate cold storage and wash-down.

How freight moves
Ports, rail and interstates.
I-64 crosses the state from Huntington through Charleston toward the Virginia line, and I-77 heads south from Charleston past Beckley and Bluefield toward Charlotte. I-79 runs north to Morgantown and Pittsburgh, I-70 crosses the Northern Panhandle at Wheeling, and I-81 cuts through the Eastern Panhandle. The Port of Huntington Tri-State covers about 100 miles of the Ohio plus stretches of the Kanawha and Big Sandy. For ocean freight, the Port of Virginia's inland rail terminal at Front Royal serves parts of West Virginia, and Baltimore is the nearer seaport for the Panhandle.

Which pallet to order
The right grade for West Virginia.
Heavy industry sets the tone. Kanawha Valley plants and Huntington metal shops should ask about block pallets, which give true 4-way entry and spread dense loads better, or custom sizes cut to drums, coils and parts. Panhandle warehouses do fine with Grade A or Grade B 48x40 stringers. Poultry and fruit docks in Hardy County do better with AAA or new. Anything leaving the country through Norfolk or Baltimore needs HT pallets carrying the ISPM 15 stamp, and your account manager writes the spec into the order.
