Downstate, the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center holds cooperative produce, meat and fish markets that sell to supermarkets and restaurants across the five boroughs. How freight moves

The Thruway (I-87 and I-90) ties New York City to Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Batavia and Buffalo. I-81 runs north through Syracuse toward Ontario, and I-87 continues from Albany to the Champlain–Lacolle crossing, the main road link between New York City and Montreal. Buffalo's Peace Bridge carries trucks to Fort Erie, Ontario. Containers reach Staten Island's Howland Hook terminal and the New Jersey side of the harbor, rail freight sorts at the Selkirk yard south of Albany, and the Port of Albany handles bulk and heavy lift.

Which pallet to order

The right pallet grade for New York.

Hunts Point and city food distributors should order Grade A 48x40s, or AAA where a grocer is strict about appearance. Dairy plants in Batavia and across the state do best with Grade A or new pallets in cold rooms. Apple packers shipping to chains need GMA-style 48x40s. Rochester's optics and imaging makers often need custom sizes or new lumber, plus HT pallets bearing the IPPC mark for overseas orders. For Canada-bound loads, your account manager checks the buyer's wood-packaging requirement and confirms the spec in writing.

Yes. We deliver to Hunts Point and other Bronx food distributors. City traffic and market hours make timing tight, so send your gate rules and receiving hours, and your account manager confirms grade, count and arrival plan before dispatch.
What pallet do Batavia dairy plants ask for?+
Cold rooms and refrigerated trailers favor Grade A or new 48x40 pallets with solid deck boards that stay square when stacked. Some plants specify lumber or deck coverage. We quote to the plant's written spec, and your account manager confirms it before delivery.
Do trucks crossing the Peace Bridge or at Champlain need heat-treated pallets?+
Freight moving between the U.S. and Canada falls under different wood-packaging rules than overseas cargo, and Canadian customers sometimes ask for HT anyway. Check with your broker or buyer first. When treatment is needed, we source pallets carrying the ISPM 15 stamp and list the mark on the quote.
Can you supply custom pallets for Rochester optics and imaging plants?+
Yes. Precision instruments often need custom footprints, new lumber or block construction to keep loads level. Send drawings or dimensions and the weight, and an independent yard builds to that spec; export orders get the ISPM 15 heat-treatment stamp.
