The Don Young Port of Alaska, owned by the Municipality of Anchorage, says it handles about half of all inbound freight for the state, and about half of that moves on to destinations outside Anchorage. The airport bills itself as North America's busiest cargo airport, a role built on transpacific freighters stopping to refuel. Out on the coast, seafood drives exports: NOAA Fisheries says Alaska produces more than half the fish caught in waters off the United States, with pollock, salmon and crab among its major fisheries.

Container ships sail from Tacoma to the Port of Alaska, where the modernization program started building a new cargo terminal in 2026. Railcars ride barges between Seattle's Harbor Island and Whittier, then run on the Alaska Railroad between Seward, Anchorage and Fairbanks. Trucks reach the state on the Alaska Highway from Dawson Creek, crossing from the Yukon at Alcan, and fan out on the Glenn, Parks and Seward highways. Which pallet to order
The right pallet grade for Alaska.

Seafood processors exporting frozen product overseas need heat-treated (HT) pallets stamped under ISPM 15. Anchorage warehouses rebuilding retail loads can mix Grade B for storage with Grade A for outbound. Heavy construction and oilfield gear may call for block or custom sizes. Plan orders around vessel and barge schedules; your account manager confirms the spec in writing.
