Sourcing

Chesapeake Pallets is a pallet broker based in Atlanta. We don't own a yard. For each load we buy from the closest vetted yard that has your grade in stock. One account manager handles your quote, paperwork and invoice.

Where we deliver

Pallet delivery across South Carolina.

Most deliveries go to docks along I-85 in Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson counties, around Greer and Duncan, in Columbia and West Columbia, across North Charleston, Ladson and Summerville, and near Florence and Dillon on I-95.

What South Carolina makes and ships

South Carolina at a glance

South Carolina freight runs between the Port of Charleston and the Upstate. Trains shuttle containers overnight to Inland Port Greer off I-85, a second inland port sits on I-95 at Dillon, and I-26 ties Charleston to Columbia and Spartanburg.

The Upstate builds things. An automaker's plant beside Greer has drawn dozens of suppliers into the state, and the I-85 corridor from Anderson through Greenville and Spartanburg fills with parts plants and warehouses. The Lowcountry moves boxes: the port opened its Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal in 2021, and SC Ports says its 52-foot harbor is the deepest on the East Coast. Farther up I-85, the Peachoid water tower in Gaffney marks Cherokee County, whose orchards once grew more peaches in a year than all of Georgia.

That gives South Carolina two pallet markets. Upstate plants order to engineering specs, often block or custom sizes for parts and heavy components, and export boxes loaded at Greer add HT demand far from the coast. The Charleston side runs on containers: warehouses in North Charleston, Ladson and Summerville drain imports onto 48x40s, while Columbia's I-20, I-26 and I-77 junctions feed retail and grocery distribution across the state.

Ports, rail and highways

How freight moves

I-26 carries port freight from Charleston to Columbia and on to Spartanburg, where it crosses I-85. I-85 runs the Upstate from Anderson to Gaffney on its way between Atlanta and Charlotte. I-95 crosses the Pee Dee past Florence and Dillon, and I-20 and I-77 meet I-26 around Columbia. Rail shuttles link the Charleston terminals with Inland Port Greer, next to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, and with Inland Port Dillon. Charleston's terminals are the nearest deepwater gateway for most South Carolina exporters.

Which pallet to order

The right pallet grade for South Carolina.

Upstate plants shipping heavy components should start with block pallets or custom sizes, and anything moving through Inland Port Greer to an overseas buyer needs HT pallets bearing the IPPC mark. Charleston-area import warehouses mostly reuse Grade A and Grade B 48x40 stringers for outbound retail loads. Summer peach packers do best with Grade A or AAA that stays square in cold rooms. Not sure which fits your dock? Your account manager sets the grade spec in writing before anything ships.

Buying pallets in South Carolina: questions

Do containers moving through Inland Port Greer need heat-treated pallets?
Only the wood that leaves the country does. If an export box is loaded in the Upstate and railed to Charleston, its pallets should be heat treated and marked under ISPM 15. Domestic loads can run on standard stock. Your account manager marks which trucks are export on the written order.
Can you deliver to plants around Duncan and Lyman on I-85?
Yes. Plants and warehouses from Greer to Duncan and Lyman are on our delivery map. Send the dock address, the pallet size and the weight each one carries, and your account manager confirms block or stringer construction in writing.
What pallet works for North Charleston import warehouses?
Most build outbound retail loads on recycled 48x40 stringers, Grade A for customers who care about appearance and Grade B for one-way trips. If you run push-back racking or conveyors, mention it so your account manager checks deckboard and stringer condition against your spec.
Can you supply Upstate peach packers for the summer season?
Yes. Tell your account manager when packing starts, how many lines you run and the carton footprint. Packing sheds usually take Grade A or AAA 48x40s that stay flat under fruit cartons in cold rooms, and any export lots get HT pallets.
Do you serve distribution centers around Columbia?
Yes. Warehouses in Lexington and Richland counties near the I-20, I-26 and I-77 interchanges are on the map. Most ship standard 48x40s; let your account manager know whether your trading partners require a specific grade, and that requirement goes into the order.
Where can I buy pallets in South Carolina?
From us, by the full truckload: 616 recycled 48x40s per truck, or 520 block pallets. Call (470) 206-3352 or book a test load.
What do pallets cost delivered to South Carolina?
Full-truckload prices run from $4.75 a pallet for Grade B to $10.50 for AAA, freight included. Heat-treated adds $1.00–$1.50 per pallet.
When will a load reach South Carolina?
Your delivery date is on the quote, in writing, before you send a PO. Standard 48x40s often arrive in 0–2 business days. New and custom builds take longer.
