Sourcing

Chesapeake Pallets is a pallet broker based in Atlanta. We don't own a yard. For each load we buy from the closest vetted yard that has your grade in stock. One account manager handles your quote, paperwork and invoice.

What Idaho makes and ships

Idaho at a glance

Idaho freight starts on irrigated Snake River Plain farms: potatoes around Blackfoot, dairies and cheese plants across the Magic Valley, and bean and beet processing at Twin Falls. It reaches markets on I-84, I-86 and I-15, with Boise's warehouses anchoring the west end.

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture ranks the state first nationally in potatoes, barley, peppermint oil, alfalfa hay and trout, second in sugar beets, and third in milk and cheese. Food and beverage processing is Idaho's second-largest manufacturing sector, the department says. Blackfoot bills itself as the Potato Capital of the World, Twin Falls grew into a processing center for beans and sugar beets, and seven south-central counties from Elmore to Minidoka hold most of the state's dairy jobs. Boise, Meridian and Nampa anchor the Treasure Valley's warehouses and plants.

That mix means pallet demand follows storage cellars and processing lines more than store shelves. Potato packers and frozen-product plants ship from storage most of the year, cheese and yogurt plants need sound pallets under heavy cases, and the fall potato and beet harvests land in the same weeks. Frozen potato products rank among the top exports through the Seattle–Tacoma gateway, and export loads need heat-treated pallets. Treasure Valley distribution adds year-round 48x40 business.

How freight moves

I-84 is the spine, entering from Ontario, Oregon, running through Boise and the Magic Valley, and leaving for Utah. I-86 splits from it near Declo and passes American Falls to meet I-15 at Pocatello, while I-15 links Idaho Falls and Blackfoot with Salt Lake City and Montana. Twin Falls reaches I-84 over the Perrine Bridge on US-93, and the Panhandle uses I-90 through Coeur d'Alene. For containers, shippers look west to Seattle and Tacoma or to Portland's Terminal 6, which Lewiston officials welcomed when it relaunched in 2026.

Which pallet to order

The right pallet grade for Idaho.

Potato and dairy plants should start from Grade A recycled or new pallets: cellars, wash lines and freezer rooms are hard on wood, and retail buyers reject broken boards. Frozen-product and dairy exporters sending containers west need heat-treated (HT) pallets marked under ISPM 15. Treasure Valley warehouses handling retail freight can mix Grade B for internal moves with Grade A for outbound. Heavy bins, seed bags and farm equipment may call for block pallets or custom sizes. Your account manager confirms the spec in writing.

Buying pallets in Idaho: questions

Do you deliver to potato processors around Idaho Falls and American Falls?
Yes. We arrange truckload deliveries to packers, processors and storage operations across eastern Idaho and along I-86. Send your account manager your pallet spec or a sample from your line, and the grade, size and any heat-treatment requirement are confirmed first.
What pallet do Magic Valley cheese and yogurt plants ask for?
Most want pallets that carry heavy cases flat and square through cold storage and refrigerated trucking, which usually means Grade A recycled or new. Plants shipping into retail distribution centers should send the receiver's pallet requirements so your account manager can match them and confirm in writing.
Can I order pallets ahead of the fall potato and sugar beet harvest?
Yes, and it helps. Harvest is when packing sheds, storage cellars and processors across southern Idaho all need pallets at once. Give your account manager your expected volumes by week and your dock hours, and orders can be scheduled against your harvest plan.
Do frozen potato exports through Seattle or Tacoma need heat-treated pallets?
In most cases, yes. Importing countries that apply ISPM 15 expect wood packaging to be heat-treated and stamped with the IPPC mark. Ask the buyer or forwarder for the destination's rules, and your account manager will quote HT pallets with the ISPM 15 mark to match.
Do you serve warehouses in Boise, Meridian and Nampa?
Yes. We deliver pallets to distribution centers and plants along I-84 in the Treasure Valley. Tell your account manager what your outbound customers accept, whether stringer or block, and the grade is set in writing before the order ships.
Where can I buy pallets in Idaho?
From us, by the full truckload: 616 recycled 48x40s per truck, or 520 block pallets. Call (470) 206-3352 or book a test load.
What do pallets cost delivered to Idaho?
Full-truckload prices run from $4.75 a pallet for Grade B to $10.50 for AAA, freight included. Heat-treated adds $1.00–$1.50 per pallet.
When will a load reach Idaho?
Your delivery date is on the quote, in writing, before you send a PO. Standard 48x40s often arrive in 0–2 business days. New and custom builds take longer.
